Water safety is a journey, not a finish line. If you’re wondering where to start, here’s a simple checklist our instructors use to guide early progress:
- Comfortable getting face wet and blowing bubbles
- Gentle submersions with calm recovery
- Floating on back with support, moving toward independent float
- Safe entries and exits, learning to “turn and return” to the wall
- Listening for instructor cues and staying within arm’s reach
Every child moves at their own pace. Our role is to make the environment warm, predictable, and encouraging, with clear steps so progress feels natural. Parents learn alongside their child, building consistency between class and home bath time.
If you can tick a few boxes already, brilliant, that’s a great start on their water safety journey and we’ll build from there. If not, that’s exactly what our beginner classes are for.
